Kinderbücher / Childrens books

Seit ich in irgendeinem Blog mal ein Buch von Alain Grée gesehen habe, bin ich total infiziert und suche ab und zu bei Ebay und in Online-Antiquariaten nach Büchern von ihm. Die Auto-Ausgabe von "Heidi, Peter und..." (witzig gell, ein paar Jahre später hätte die niemand mehr so genannt, weil jeder sofort ein ganz anderes Pärchen damit identifiziert) lag mir besonders am Herzen, aber weil es unbedingt die französische sein musste war es gar nicht so einfach. Jetzt endlich hat es geklappt, ich werde es hüten wie einen Schatz!
Man muss dazu wissen, daß ich väterlicherseits von einer Citroen-Neigung geprägt bin und selber immerhin zwei Jahre mal einen CX gefahren habe. Mein Vater besitzt zur Zeit eine DS (das ist das Auto auf dem Cover), die er auch angemeldet hat und fährt. Mein Bruder hat einen supercoolen orangenen CX, der aber nur zu besonderen Gelegenheiten aus der Halle darf.
Damit erklärt sich, warum es die französische Ausgabe sein musste, denn auf der deutschen ist vorne-oh Graus, *verzeihung*-ein Mercedes(!!) anstelle der Göttin...
Interessanterweise hat sich übrigens irgendein Japaner die Rechte an den Grée Illustrationen gesichert, man bekommt einiges mit den Bildchen drauf z.B. hier.

Since I saw a book from Alain Gree some time ago in a blog, I'm totally hooked and look from time to time at ebay and in oline antiquariats after books from him. This car-issue was very improtant for me , but because it needed to be the french version it took some time, but now it's mine! I'll keep it as a treasure! You have to know that I'm a Citroen-fan, that comes from my fathers side, he is actually driving a DS, the car on the cover. My brother has a supercool CX in orange, which will only be driven for special occasions. I too have driven CX for two years.
Thats the reason, why it had to be the french version, because the cover of the german shows-oh horror *sorry* a mercedes...
It's interesting that the rights of Alain Grée were held by a japanese.

Bei der Suche laufen mir auch sonst ganz hübsche Cover über den Weg, großartig finde ich auch dieses mit dem Elefanten und den Fliegenpilzen. Wahrscheinlich kommt es an die Wand, mal sehen. Zerstören möchte ich die Bücher auf keinen Fall, also dürfen sie nicht dauerhaft in die Hände meiner Kinder ;-))
Sometimes I found some more books with nice covers, I'm totally in love with this elephant and the mushrooms, maybe I hang it for decoration on the wall. I don't want to destroy these books at all, so I can't give them to my children ;-))

Mein erster Stoffmarkt / my first fabric-market

Ich war heute das erste mal auf einem Stoffmarkt! Und bin natürlich begeistert, klar :-)
Da ich ja auch viel am Wochenende zu tun habe, hat es bisher einfach nie geklappt.
Und heute konnte ich auch erst um 15 Uhr losfahren, weil ich morgens Dienst hatte, es ist ca. eine dreiviertelstunde bis Mannheim von hier, ich hatte schon Angst, es lohnt sich nicht mehr-und ich hatte beide Kinder dabei!
Alles in allem bin ich also hochglücklich, daß noch viel los war ein Stunde vor Schluss und ich echt in Ruhe gucken konnte, aber das schafft man ja doch kaum. Viel zu viel zu sehen, was "Kaufmich!!" schreit...
Meine Ausbeute sind 11 Meter plus die zwei Westfalenstoffpäckchen, die aber an meine Mutter gehen, die heute garkeine Zeit hatte und die Bänder. Ausserdem zwei coole kleine Flugzeug-Velours für die Jungs.
Der Stapel links ist für Klamotten gedacht, der rechte für den üblichen Schnickschnack.

Nach diesem langen Tag, an dem wir dann noch auf dem Spielplatz waren und zu Hause nochmal Fahrrad fahren mussten (was Leopold seit gestern kann, stolzwieOskarist die FrauMama!!!), finde ich es sehr nett, daß mir meine Nachbarin noch Kuchen gebracht hat, der übrig war. Mmhhh...

Today I had the first opportunity to visit one of the famous fabric-markets. And it was phantastic!! Since I'm often working at the weekend I hadn't the time before to go to some.
And today I started at 3 pm, after working in the morning. It is about 45 minutes from here to Mannheim, so I feared it could be not worth to go there, one hour before they close-with the two kids with me!
But there were still a lot of people and it was enough time to go to all shops and look around-everywhere things who wanted to come with me...
Now I have 11 meters, two packs of westfalenstoffe for my mother who had no time today, some trims and two iron-on-velours for my sons. The left stack is for clothes, the right for the usual patchworkthings.
And after this long day, where we were also on the playground and afterwards went cycling above all (Leopold can drive bycicle since yesterday-I'maproudmama!!!) I found it perfekt to get a piece of left-over cake from my nice neighbour, yummie!

Sommerklamotten / summer clothes

Zwischendurch wird immer mal wieder was zum Anziehen fertig. Auch wenn ich immer wieder ganz tolle bestickte, bemalte, bebügelte und sonstwie aufgerüschte Sachen in allen Blogs sehe, bin ich bisher sehr glücklich mit meinen schlichten Stücken. Vielleicht trau ich mich ja mal, Ideen hätt ich schon. Dieses Shirt ist schon das zweite nach einem Schnitt aus der Knip 08/08, ich hab ihn einfach verkleinert auf etwa 42. Die schönsten Sachen in dem Heft sind alle in großen Größen, aber bei Shirts ist das ja wirklich kein Problem. Saubequem und schnell gemacht, die Säume hab ich mit der normalen Näma genäht, weil da ein Gummi rein kommt ist es wurscht, ob die Naht schön wird und so geht es schneller.

In between I finished some clothes for me. Although I notice all the amazing decorated, stamped, embroidered and otherwise pimped tops all round here in the blogs I love my simple things. Maybe I in the future I'll try, let's see.
This shit is the second after a pattern of the Knip 08/08, I reduced it to a german 42. The best patterns in this issue are in bigger sizes, but size-reducing with shirts is no problem at all.
It's really comfortable and fast sewing as well. I made the hemps with the normaö sewing machine, thats faster than with the serger and it doesn't matter how they look, because they become elastic.

Mehr Petronellas / More petronellas

Hier kommen die nächsten zwei, mit etwas modifiziertem Schnitt. Die blaue habe ich für mich genäht, die aus Amy Butler Stoffen wandert in den Shop. Im Moment liebäugele ich damit, ein Ebook dafür zu machen. Aber mit meinen tausend Plänen ist das ja immer so eine Sache, mal sehen...
Auf jeden Fall werde ich als nächstes ein Kindermodell davon nähen, ich habe meiner Nichte nämlich schon vor längerem eine Tasche versprochen.

For the moment I fancy with making a ebook for it, but with my thousands of plans, that's another story, I'll see...
But actually I will sew a girls-version for my niece. I pledged to sew her a handbag for some time.

Was lange währt.../ good things come to those wo wait

Seit wir unsere wunderbare pinkfarbene Toilette bewohnen, nutzen wir dort nur Handtücher in weiss, die ich von meiner Schwiegermutter geerbt habe. Einige dieser Handtücher hatten noch nie eine Schlaufe zum Anhängen. Es mussten fast zwei Jahre ins Land gehen, bis sich die täglich an der NäMa sitzende Frau Hirsch mal zu dieser gefühlte zwei Minuten dauernden Arbeit durchringen konnte. Mannmannmann oder besser fraufraufrau....

Since we have our amazing pink washroom we use there only white towels, which I got from my mother-in-law. Some of them had never before a loop for hanging up.
It took almost two years for the every-day sewing Mrs. Hirsch to do this maybe two-minutes-work.
boy oh boy, or better girl oh girl....

Petronella Tasche erster Prototyp / first prototype Petronella bag

Seit einiger Zeit schwirrt mir ein neues Handtaschenmodell im Kopf rum, was ich gestern endlich mal umgesetzt habe.
Inspiriert von der vielfältigen Verwendung von Zackenlitze, z.B. bei Elisa, der Meistern der Zackenlitze ;-) habe ich meine "Petronella" mit einer selbstgenähten Wellenborte geschmückt, Litze XXL oder so.
Ein bisschen was muss ich noch modifizieren, z.B. steht der obere Rand jetzt ein bisschen auf, das stört beim quer über der Schulter tragen nicht so, aber für die nächste muss ich da noch eine Lösung finden. Vielleicht mache ich sie dann auch etwas höher, diese wäre mir persönlich zu klein, aber ich bin ein "hab immer alles dabei Typ", da müssen zur Not noch 2 Liter Milch in die Tasche passen...
Den Träger hab ich so lang gemacht, daß sie sich "sowohl als auch", also quer oder nur über der Schulter tragen lässt.
Die Stoffe sind von Anna Maria Horner (der untere) und Heather Bailey (der obere), innen hab ich ein Vintage-Schätzchen, was ich mal von Andrea bekommen habe, genommen, es passte farblich super zu den Äusseren. Die Tasche hat zwei kleine Innenfächer, eins davon mit Reissverschluss.

For a while now I plan to design a new handbag-model and yesterday I started sewing finally.
Inspired by the manifold uses of ricrac round here, i.e. how elisa, the master of ricrac ;-) uses it, I decorated my "Petronella" with a self sewn wave-border, ricrac XXL somehow.
There are some details which must be modified for the next one, the opening stands open a bit for example, and my next will probably be higher, this one is a little to small for me, I use the "have everything with me"-type of handbag where I can put some bottles of milk in, too:-).
The shoulderstrap is long enough to carry cross the body or over the shoulder.
The fabrics are Anna Maria Horner (beneath), and Heather Bailey, the lining is a vintage-treasure from Andrea with totally matching colours.
It has two inside pockets, one with zipper.

Brauttäschchen / Bridal purse

Die Mutter einer Freundin hat mich gebeten, für die Tochter ein Brauttäschchen zu nähen, weil ihr die aus dem Laden alle nicht gefallen haben. Es sollte nicht ganz so rüschig und aufwändig verziert sein und die Form eines Pomponbeutelchens haben.
Wie immer hatte ich erst kurz vor dem Abholtermin eines Geistesblitz und bin auch glücklicherweise noch an den passenden Stoff gekommen. Als einzige Zierde habe ich den Namen der Brautleute und das Hochzeitsdatum aufgestickt und den oberen Rand mit einem Zierstich versehen. Jetzt bin ich wirklich gespannt, was die Braut dazu sagt...

The mother of a friend of mine asked me to make a bridal purse for her daughter, because they didn't like the ones they showed to them in the bridal shop. It should be more simple and not so much decorated and they wanted to have a pompon shaped draw string purse.
Like always I got the flash of inspiration right before they came to pick it up and luckily I found perfect fabric in the local fabric store. The only ornament is the embroidery of the names and the wedding dates and a decoration-stitch at the border. Now I'm really curious about what the bride will say...

Neue Taschen

Heute gab es ein paar Taschenexperimente. Die rote Heidi-tasche ist mit einer kürzlich bei Ebay gefundenen Vintage-Borte genäht und zudem sind die unteren Teile mit Rosenmotiven bestickt. Das Ergebnis find ich jetzt ganz schön, auch wenn die Borte echt ziemlich breit ist. Ich hab noch ein paar alte Borten, vielleicht fallen mir da auch noch schöne Stoffkombinationen ein.
Aus dem heissgeliebten Alexander Henry Zoo 2D in blau gab es mal wieder ein Zippie, diesmal mit einem passenden Stempel (Tiger, keine Katze...) kombiniert.
Und die bunte Tasche ist endlich mal für mich. Den Stoff hab ich meiner Mutter abgeluchst, in Zeiten totaler Japan-Stoffkaufabstinenz (jaa, das muss auch mal sein ;-)) ein echtes Highlight!! Soll eine "Mama"-Tasche sein, für Feuchttücher und ähnliche Utensilien, die man braucht, wenn man mit zwei Dreckmäusen unterwegs ist.

Today I made some bag-experiments. The red Heidi-bag is made of some vintage trim I found recently at ebay. The lower parts are pimped with rose-stitchings. The result is ok for me now, although the ribbon is very wide actually. I've some more vintage ribbons, maybe I combine some more bags out of it.
The well-loved Alexander Henry Zoo 2D was the fabric for another zippie-pouch, here combined with one of my stamps (this is a tiger, not a cat...).
And finally the coloured pouch is for me. The fabric is from my mothers, being totally japan-fabric-buying-abstinent (yes!) for the time it was a real highlight to get it!! It will be a "mama-pouch", for wet wipes and such things, you need when you are on the road with two litterbugs.
