Ich hab es geschafft, er ist fertig! Und obwohl er so klein (etwa 15 3/4inch x 19 3/4 inch, 41 x 51cm) ist, war es ein ganz schönes Stück Arbeit, puh! Das (erste Mal) Handquilten machte Spaß, auch wenn ich ziemlich rumprobieren musste, bis ich wusste, wie man am Besten vorgeht, gottseidank gibt es ja im Internet einige Anleitungen. Man kann bei genauem Hinsehen erkennen, wie sich die Quiltstiche im Laufe der Arbeit verändert haben.
Das Muster hab ich beim Quilten dann noch ein wenig verändert, es wirkt etwas improvisiert aber manche Stellen finde ich sehr gelungen, vor allem die Kringel mag ich. Man muss doch genau vorzeichnen, während des Quiltens die Linien zu modifizieren ist gar nicht so einfach.
Nach dem Waschen war er auch nicht mehr so dick, ich hatte befürchtet, ein zu dickes Vlies genommen zu haben. Jetzt wirkt er so schön knittrig. Das weisse Leinen war grässlich zu verarbeiten, es ist für so kleinteiliges Patchwork viel zu franselig und weich. Aussehen tuts natürlich schön, aber das mach ich nicht nochmal.
Philip hat sich sehr gewundert, warum man das Quilten nicht einfach mit der Maschine macht, jetzt erklär das mal nem Mann...
It's done! Even though it is small (15 3/4inch x 19 3/4 inch) it was hard work to finish it. It was the first time of handquilting for me! Handquilting was fun, but I had to try about for a while until I found the best way to do it. Thanksgod for the tutorials in www. If you take a closer look, you can see how the stitches change during the work.
I modified the quiltpattern while stitching it, it has a quite improvisational look but i like it in some details, the swirls for example. I think I better had to draw the lines exactly on the top, making changes while quilting is not so easy. I like the look of the surface after washing the quilt, the linen has such nice crinkles. But for making a small-pieced patchwork it is completely unusable, it is much to soft and fringy.
My husband wondered, why I didn't make the quilting with the machine. How can you explain this to a man...
